MINTY FRESH

Mint green is everywhere I look these days. It's a big color trend for Spring 2012 and it's lovely seeing it pop up in fashion and interior design. I've always liked this color and I think it pairs well with a lot of colors in a unique way; gold, coral, orange, yellow. I found this color board at Creature Comforts, a really sweet blog full of pretty things to inspire!

Here are some more minty cool images to get you pumped for spring. I am completely obsessed with this vintage mint green phone! It would make a great book end or side table accessory- an easy way to get in on the trend without committing to it in a big way. I also just tried this nail polish color "Hey! Get in Lime!", it looks great on my toes, but I would definitely go lighter on my fingers to get a big pop of candy color.

BEAUTIFUL MUSIC

I found this amazing artist on a friend of mine's Pinterest Board. The photographer Martin Klimas creates abstract stills by pouring paint above a speaker and playing music like Miles Davis and Steve Reich. The color palette and music create a beautiful effect when photographed with a crazy high shutter speed of 1/7,000 of a second. You can read more about the collection, Painting With Sound, in The New York Times. He has some other really interesting collections in his portfolio featuring shattering ceramic, birds in flight and floating silk scarves- all with a beautiful effect of motion trapped in still photography.

Steve Reich's "Music for 18 Musicians"

Steve Reich's "Drumming"

Miles Davis' "Pharaoh's Dance"

TOAST TO LOVE

My husband is in the restaurant industry, which means we don't do a lot of Halmark Holidays together. If it's a day that involves food and beverage, industry people usually miss out. That doesn't mean there wont be any celebrating though, this weekend were having a nice low-key "staycation" and enjoying some peace and quiet. if you're single or in a relationship, I hope you enjoy your Valentine's Day this year. Spend some time indulging and pampering yourself or the person you love!

PINING VALENTINE'S DAY

This month has been so beautiful; the weather is unbelievable, the sky is blue and it's hard to believe that it's February. Lucky for me, I've been out of the office a lot with shopping trips and installs and I've had the chance to soak it in. I haven't had much time in front of my computer these last couple weeks, so I apologize for the light posts. With Valentine's Day coming up, I thought I would share some beautiful photos I found on Pinterest. Enjoy!

I SPY SOMETHING ORANGE

I just finished a custom painting for one of my clients and I thought I would share. This is the second piece I've done in this style, the first one you can see here. I used 4"x4" Cradled Artist Panels in three different profile heights, acrylic paint and a model wood backing. My client wanted orange to be the prominent color and she wanted the painting to tie the room together. I incorporated some inspiration I found in the space; the rug pattern, an inlay on her table, pillow and wood floor colors. Both clients had orange and red as an accent color in their homes, I think I'm going to make another one (for myself) with more cool colors like blue, black and silver. I really liked adding the personal details to this one, next time I would like to take it even farther by adding some photos and quotes. Hope you like it!
